Classic Gujarati Dal Fry

A comforting everyday dal fry made with premium Wazir toor dal, tempered with ghee and spices.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Wazir Oily Tukda Tuver Dal
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies
  • Curry leaves, turmeric, salt, coriander

  1. Wash and pressure cook 1 cup Wazir toor dal with 3 cups water, turmeric, and salt for 3 whistles.
  2. In a pan, heat 2 tbsp ghee. Add mustard seeds, cumin, curry leaves, dried red chilies.
  3. Add chopped onion, tomato, green chilies. Sauté until soft.
  4. Add cooked dal, adjust water for consistency. Simmer 5 minutes.
  5. Garnish with fresh coriander and a squeeze of lemon.
