Puran Poli

Sweet Maharashtrian flatbread stuffed with dal and jaggery filling.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Gunavan Toor Dal
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • 2 cups flour
  • Cardamom, nutmeg, ghee

Instructions

Instructions

  1. Cook toor dal (or chana dal) until very soft. Drain completely.
  2. Add jaggery, cardamom, nutmeg. Cook until thick paste (puran).
  3. Make soft dough with flour, turmeric, oil.
  4. Stuff puran in dough balls. Roll thin.
  5. Cook on tawa with ghee until golden spots appear.
  6. Serve with ghee.
